Roots Blower

A Roots blower is a positive displacement pump. Its core components are two three-lobe or two-lobe "figure-8" shaped rotors that rotate in opposite directions at equal speeds inside a casing via timing gears, periodically trapping and displacing air to move gas. Its key characteristics are a compact structure and constant output flow rate. As a dry blower without internal compression, its pressure is generated solely by system resistance (back pressure). Renowned for being robust, reliable, and cost-effective, it is widely used in wastewater treatment aeration, aquaculture oxygenation, pneumatic conveying, and low-vacuum applications. Due to the pulsating nature of its discharge, it typically requires the installation of a silencer.
